Five years ago I had a chance to travel south of France for a week or so:  starting with Orange, continuing down to the glamorous Cannes,  the calm Nice and the much-too-expensive-to-even-have-a-drink-in-but-absolutely-mesmerizing Monaco. My memories are mostly a mix of blue skies, deep turquoise water, a mix of green views, tiny caramel and brown houses with decoration and pouring  wine and cheese.  “This is where I will land when I retire” the pace of life, the air, all felt slower, more relaxed.  The biggest worry seemed like whether to choose tiger prawns or Scallops St Jacques.

This week is the Sud de France festival in NYC, a chance to get some of the French breeze – which is quite necessary in these gray days of a too early Autumn. This is a great chance for all you wine lovers to get more familiar with the flavors of Languedoc-Roussillon. The Sud de France site is offering a very cool map to show the different wines and areas.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about the wines and food of the area. Here’s a detailed schedule of the various events happening in NYC during October. I do hope to catch at least one or two. How about you?
